Low Mood, Anxiety & Stress
Many of my clients reach out to me because they’re experiencing low mood (commonly referred to as depression), anxiety, or stress.
We can all experience these feelings from time to time – it’s part of being human. But sometimes these feelings stick around for longer, or they can feel more instense, to the point of becoming overwhelming.
There are times when these types of feelings can begin to negatively impact our lives, potentially resulting in behaviours such as avoidance (e.g. not leaving the house / not going in to work) withdrawal (e.g. social isolation) or addictive behaviours (e.g. dependency on alcohol/drugs, unhealthy behaviours around eating or exercise).
Sometimes people describe feeling “nothing”, “very little” or “numb” (typically associated with extreme or persistant low mood). Other times, anxiety or stress can become so overwhelming that we feel we can’t cope, or we feel we’re fast approaching burn out.
People can experience these types of feelings for a whole host of reasons. You may feel you know exactly why you are feeling the way you are. Or you may not really understand what’s causing you to feel this way.
You may be navigating a particularly difficult situation in the present. Or perhaps your feelings have roots in your past.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to ask for help. Your feelings are completely valid without a diagnostic label. And there is no shame in reaching out for professional help and support when things feel difficult. In fact, I believe reaching out for help when we are struggling is an incredibly brave thing to do!
Please do get in touch to book in an initial appointment so we can begin to address the difficulties you are experiencing.
Together, we can explore and uncover what is going on for you, and beyond that we can discuss some of the different ways that I can help you.
